GOP: "Merry Christmas"
I guess the Republican Party of MN hasn't updated their web sites in awhile. Talk about living in the past! (Sorry, cheap shot.) Their very best, and most calming, web site is for the 8th Congressional District. "Silent Night," that cherished MIDI classic, graces our speakers while we admire a manger scene featuring Santa Claus. To the right, a slide show of the GOP's finest, highlighted by a rather sultry snapshot of Michele Bachmann. Rowwwr!
It's all in good fun. I'm sure they'll get around to updating their web site eventually. My home page suggestion? These Colors Don't Run.

Searching for Santa's Reindeer
From DigElogROCORI: Have you ever asked yourself about how Santa gets his reindeer? Well we ran into Donnar and Blitzen while they were pulling folks around just outside the historic Salem Church out in the country north of Paynesville, MN. In this story you'll learn about what its takes to raise and train a reindeer to pull Santa's sleigh.

Mooki's Xmas Present
From MookiTV: If we wake up Christmas morning to find all of our presents shredded to bits, we'll only have ourselves to blame. Of course, our presents won't have catnip toys in them like this present we gave Mooki. Once he realizes what's inside, he goes nuts tearing into it. Fun for the whole family, and even people you hate!
Happy Holidays from Mooki, and his aunties Jasmine and Indie.

Snowy Greetings to You
Yes, we finally got the first significant snowfall of the season (thanks, global warming!). I thought I'd climb up on my roof and say hello, and season's greetings. There's also a little Christmasy snippet from Pharyngula. We'll have a terrific interview with him before the new year. Meanwhile, check out all the fine work by St. John's documentary students over there on the left. Horses, monks, oh my!

The Santas Are Running
Vlog Santa is back! And he has his own web site: Vlogsanta.tv
Sunday, Nov. 26 was the first "Running of the Santas" before the Holidazzle parade in downtown Minneapolis. (Apparently they weren't supposed to use that name. Here's the official Running of the Santas) It was a benefit for Legal Aid, providing free civil legal services to low-income and disadvantaged people throughout Minnesota.
Vlog Santa was confused about the event, however. He thought they were raising money for criminals. When the santas started running, Vlog Santa panicked because he assumed the cops were after them. Oh Vlog Santa, when will you ever learn! (laughter)
Vlog Santa has more adventures in store. Meanwhile, he is reluctantly obligated to answer your computer video questions. Email santa@vlogsanta.tv with your questions, which MUST be in video form. You can send video to Vlog Santa with services like YouSendIt or just stick it on YouTube or Blip.tv.
Vlog Santa is also offering personalized video greetings this year for $25. Details coming soon.

Christmas Cheer 01-01
Clark writes: 2001 was a very strange year. Weird stuff went down, and some humans reacted in interesting ways. These specimens found a very new way to celebrate Christmas in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Gather round with some egg nog and witness an art happening of sorts, if you will...
This is a strangely therapeutic video from our friend Clark ov Saturn of ZipZapZop.com, who visits Nordeast Minneapolis every year. Check out Clark's sweet New Years Song and Christmas episode!

Christmas at the Farm
How are your holidays going? Lorika and I went to her family's farm on Christmas, like we do every year. Something unexpected always happens outside after dinner - this year was no exception.

The Historic Old Salem Church
This story comes to us from Duane in Cold Spring, who writes:
This story includes great footage of the ornately decorated church, delightful music from the Mary Beth Carlson concert and an exclusive interview with Joel Frank. This concert was given in loving memory of his great-grandparents, Christian and Anna (Nehring) Frank who came from Germany with four children in 1871 and settled in the community. They attended Salem Church while raising their family. Today all of the members of the Frank family and their spouses rest in the Old Salem Cemetery across the road from the church.

Gingerbread Houses
Do you remember times with Grandma where you made a Ginger Bread House together? Me neither. But after watching the ROCORI High School kids make gingerbread houses, I want to create that fictional memory, so that I can be nostalgic for it.
